ADAPTATION AND TRANSCRIPTION- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 1)

Figure 1: Book Cover

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was originally the 7th book of the 7 book Harry potter series, written by JK Rowling.
The film, as well as all of the others from the Harry Potter series, leaves out a lot of information and plot from the original book but brings forward and emphasises the most interesting and central plot points. This more refined adaptation is more suitable for a film because it makes it a lot shorter in length and therefore will be an appropriate time to capture the whole story and be an appropriate time for an audience to sit through.

As well as running for an appropriate time period, having less information than in the books makes it a lot easier for viewers to process all the information given to them and not overwhelm them. It is easy to follow a simpler structure and not get lost over countless plot points, so therefore it is easier to understand and process what we are seeing. It is more engaging for audiences to understand what is going on throughout the film rather than not knowing what is going on.
In some cases leaving more information out is better for the business of the film, as sequels can be made to make more money, using the information from the book that they did not use.
